If you ever peeked in the back of a Chinese restaurant you would know how effective this knife design is for rapid, effective cutting and chopping and transport of ingredients to bowl or pan. If you only had one knife, this could well be it, from chopping meat to finely slicing a clove of ginger or garlic.This knife has good balance and feel, and looks like it will hold a good edge to it. I would maybe caution any newbies to get some experience with standard french cooking knife first so you have good knife feel in your skill set, lest you add some fingertips to your latest creation, this not really a good knife for beginners.

I got it for removing chine bones from a whole pork line. It was great for this. It did however have spine deformations where part of the spine started to chip off from the hammer blows to get through the bone and fearing busting the cleaver I switch to a camp hatchet which faired better. It did cleave meat just fine though and held up to the large amounts of pork I had to dice.

Works as expected, came out of the box sharp. Felt very expensive due to the weight. I cannot compare this to any other cleavers, as this is my first one. So far, the only complaint I have is the slipperiness of the handle, but as long as you keep your hand dry, you should be good. Pros: -Comes sharp out of the box -Feels expensive because of the weight Cons: -Slippery handle  I would recommend this product
